It analyses the regulatory function of administration, as well as the institutional and procedural characteristics and practices of administrative tribunals and judicial review.

 

Alternative Dispute Resolution

This module emphasis on the fact that the students become familiar with these techniques and work on the development of negotiation and mediation skills using an interest-based approach.

 

Criminal Law & Summary Conviction Law

Learn about the Criminal Code, the Charter, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and the Rules of the Ontario Court of Justice in Criminal Proceedings.

 

Introduction to the Legal System

Learn legal terminology, examine the Canadian court system, and consider the differences between private law, public law, procedural law and substantive law.

 

Legal Computer Applications

The student learns how to use a personal computer to accomplish many tasks, such as writing a letter, analyzing numeric information, and maintaining an updated list of client information using word processing software, chart and spreadsheet software, and email.

 

Residential Landlord and Tenant Law

This subject introduces the student to residential tenancies and covers the Residential Tenancies Act. Students are taught the law and procedures relating to the termination of residential tenancies and other common applications that come before the Landlord and Tenant Board.
