Ontario College of Business & Technology’s College Career Services wing offers students one-on-one sessions for resume review along with workshops to steer them through the essentials of job search. Finding a new job is requires time and dedication and for this reason we encourage students to start their job search prior to the finish of the academic term.

Our Career Services team is always on the look out for job fairs, industry partnerships and corporate agreements that will make the process of finding jobs for our graduates and co-op students a less stressing journey.

The Academic Foundation to find a job Through partnerships with leaders in the field of job search, we have made resume design, cover letter content, interview coaching and job search strategies part of our programs which focusses on the fundamentals of the aforementioned. Co-op for International Students Each one of our one-year programs consist of a module devoted to helping students build their skills in the real world of employment in their field. Through the CO-OP module, in order to achieve graduation our students are required to work in their field of study for a period equal in length to their academic period. Upon registration, we provide them with the necessary documentation to apply for a co-op work permit, so that they are allowed to work full time once they complete their academic workload. Co-Op FAQ’s Will OCBT support me regarding the co-op preparation? Our career services team will provide each enrolled student assistance for preparing resumes, writing cover letter, job search and mock interview.  Also, our programs provide one module specifically devoted to job searching strategies. What is the main requirement for my co-op be accepted? For the co-op to be accepted, the job position should be related to your field of study. Students are required to implement the theoretical knowledge acquired during their class in a practical way during their work experience. How many hours can I work during co-op portion? As long as you have co-op work permit and SIN it is possible to work up to 40 hours per week. The co-op can be done on a full-time or part-time basis. It will be students’ choice, as long as the total amount of weeks stated in your co-op letter is reached during your program. Is the co-op paid or unpaid? The co-op can be paid or unpaid. It will depend on your negotiation with the company you are hired by. How does the college validate my co-op module? As soon as you finish your academic period your have to request the confirmation and completion co-op letters from the Career Services office. The co-op confirmation letter needs to be filled out by your employer and returned to the college in order to be approved and signed by the Career Service Coordinator before your start the co-op period. Once you complete your co-op weeks, you will ask your employer to fill out the Co-op completion form. That form needs to be submitted to the Career Services office for validation and approval.
